J.T. Herber, III primarily practices civil litigation, real estate, and estate planning.
In civil cases, J.T. represents plaintiffs and defendants in a wide range of civil disputes, in both state and federal courts, including personal injury and wrongful death cases, as well as commercial real estate, construction, landlord-tenant, and collections matters. He has achieved numerous six and seven-figure recoveries in personal injury/premises liability, real estate, estate, and collections litigation.

In addition to civil litigation, J.T. also drafts wills, powers of attorney and living wills/healthcare powers of attorney, and handles real estate transactions through the firm’s in-house title insurance agency, Penn National Abstract Services, Inc.

Previously, Attorney Herber served as an Assistant District Attorney in Schuylkill County. As an ADA, he prosecuted a wide range of criminal cases ranging from shoplifting and DUI to major drug violations, aggravated assault, and other serious felonies, handling cases from the initial preliminary hearing through both jury and bench trials.

Attorney Herber is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and North Carolina and is also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.

Outside of the practice of law, J.T. is also very active in the community. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Schuylkill County Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO). and He is currently in his second term on the Board of Directors of the Pine Grove Area School District, is the Chair of the PGASD’s Policy Committee and is also active on the District’s Curriculum and Extra-Curricular Committees. He previously served on the Board of Directors of the Schuylkill County Chamber of Commerce.

Furthermore, J.T. is also a volunteer firefighter with Hose Hook and Ladder Fire Company No. 1 in Pine Grove. In his twenty-five (25) years with the fire company, he has earned a variety of certifications including Firefighter I and Vehicle Rescue Technician. He is the Vice President of the Pine Grove Volunteer Firefighters’ Relief Association, which provides funding to the fire company for training and equipment. He is also head coach for a Pine Grove Area Youth Soccer Association, is a Cub Scout Den Leader for Cub Scout Pack 650, teaches Continuing Legal Education courses to other Pennsylvania attorneys, and regularly gives presentations to community groups, business, and trade associations, as well as to various school groups from the elementary to high school level. He is married with two children. His hobbies include travel, cooking, and fishing.

Attorney Herber primarily practices out of the firm’s Pottsville, Pine Grove, and Orwigsburg offices, but is also available at the Hegins and Shenandoah offices by appointment.
